No matter the weather…

Being a natural light photographer in Chicago comes with it’s challenges. Our “perfect” weather days are few and far between and those days between November and March are scarce at best. During these months, 45 degrees feels like spring and if the bone chilling wind and frigid temperatures die down for a day or two, I head outside in search for photo opportunities. This year, like the last, has been light on snow. Last year, we didn’t really have any measurable snow and this year, the snow came down fast and seemingly disappeared within days. I think some freshly fallen snow makes for a beautiful photo backdrop and we should think of this time as an opportunity for a different type of photo shoot. Recently, on one of those “nicer than normal” winter days after a substantial snowfall, my very own photo subjects spent a little time playing in the snow. I followed them outside to capture some non-posed, lifestyle photos…

I’m working hard on embracing the weather challenges here and not letting it get me down or keeping me from doing what I love. Whether it’s 95 and humid or we are in the midst of a snowstorm, I will try to do my best to Get Out There and document life no matter the weather!
