This is 40…

January is a month that feels synonymous with reflection. People all over the world reflect on the previous year and resolve to change things up a bit for the upcoming year. Having a birthday in January, it is natural for me to not only reflect as I naturally would in the beginning of the year, but it makes me think about it even more as I am not just starting another calendar year, but a year of my life. Today, I am 40. I’m not exactly sure what it is supposed to feel like, how I am supposed to reflect upon the last 40 years, what I think 40 should look like. It’s a much bigger number than how I feel and I am okay with that. I hear and read way too many stories about illness, accidents, unfortunate circumstances, and terrifying ordeals to not fully and wholly celebrate another year of my life! Today, I sat down to look through 12 months of photos…to remember those events in our lives, the ones that may otherwise slip through my memory. I love photography. I love the memories they create, the memories they evoke, the way they help me organize my thoughts, the emotions from an exact moment in time. They help me remember what I felt, what I did, what was accomplished on any given day. To me, that is priceless. Something that can never be taken away. This is one reason I decided to open a photography business in 2012. To take something I am passionate about and pass that along to other people – to help others capture that moment in time that they will never get back. To capture life as they are living it. Last year, on my personal blog, 3andfini.blogspot.com, I reflected upon the year using my favorite 39 photos. These were primarily photos from my personal use – of my family and travels. This year, I am compiling my top 40 photos from 2012. I thought it only appropriate to add some of my clients this year…the year I took a chance, put myself out there, did something I didn’t know I was capable of. Thank you for being supportive and helping me grow! All of these photos are not technically perfect and many are taken with an iPhone. But, all of them stood out for one reason or another. So, here are my Top 40 – in no particular order!

So, it turns out that by adding some select photos of my photo clients, I went over my goal of 40 photos…but, that’s how I roll…
